Matt runs a digital video agency based in Sydney Australia.  In the summer of 2018, he landed a gig in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.  He thought, “If I’m going to go all the way to North America, I might as well spend some time there.”

Matt planned to take full advantage of his American ESTA visa waiver, which gave him 90 days to explore the United States, and by extension, Canada.

Matt wanted to explore North America in a campervan.  Renting for this length of time would have been outrageously expensive, so Matt’s mind turned to the natural alternative: buying a van.  However, after a bit of research, Matt ran into a big roadblock:

Before I went on the trip, I started looking into the process of actually registering and insuring a van.  I was really surprised by how hard it was. I thought I could just go over, buy a van, and sell it when I leave.  But it turns out it’s not that easy.  Nowhere online suggested any kind of easy way to do it.

This is a common problem.  Each of the US states (which handle vehicle registration) require some sort of a presence in-state to register a vehicle.  Matt, as an international visitor, didn’t have one.

Watch this video to see how we solved this problem for Matt:

Matt went on to have an amazing visit, starting in Denver, Colorado, USA, and working his way up the American and Canadian Rocky Mountains, before crossing over to Vancouver, BC for his shoot, then surfing his way down the West Coast.

You can see Matt’s talents on full display in this video he produced of his trip:
